You've Booked Nantucket: Your Countdown to Arrival
Congratulations. Here is how to make the weeks before check-in as smooth as the stay itself. Adapted from my Fisher guide Get Excited, You've Just Booked Your Nantucket Vacation Rental.
Before you arrive
- Plan your days. Restaurant reservations, bike rentals and car rentals depend on how you want to experience the island. Tell me what you have in mind and I will point you in the right direction.
- Stock the kitchen. My favorite tip: use a grocery stocking service, at least for the basics you will want right away.
- Share your arrival plans. Tell me when and how you are arriving, and exchange phone numbers so we can connect on check-in day.
- Confirm home access. We will agree on how you will get into the house so settling in is easy.
Check-in day
- Time: most homes check in at 3 p.m.
- Home readiness: Fisher staff walk through each home earlier that day to make sure it is ready.
- Saturdays are busy. In peak season, most turnovers happen on Saturdays, so a little patience goes a long way.
- Welcome packet: you will find essentials inside, including Wi-Fi details and recycling and trash guidelines that can save you time and money at checkout.
- I will check in with you. If everything looks good and we have not connected yet, head to the beach. If something needs attention, tell me right away so we can fix it quickly.
During and after your stay
Enjoy your week and call with any questions. Because I work in both rentals and sales, I can also help if you start to wonder about staying on Nantucket for good. And when you head home, start thinking about next summer early. The best weeks go first.
